Sarah Walker, LPC.
Sarah Walker, LPC, is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in treating individuals, families and couples. She also works with children and adolescents. Sarah maintains a private practice in Irving, Texas in the Las Colinas area.
Sarah works with the solution focused therapy strategy of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a type of psychotherapy that believes our thoughts determine our feelings and actions, not external factors. The benefit of CBT is that we can change the way we think thus changing how we feel. This strategy teaches clients how to react differently. Change is possible!
During a counseling session, you can expect a supportive setting in which you will receive feedback and tools to assist you with the issues you are facing.
Sarah received her Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Christian University in 1993 and her Master's in Community Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1996. Post graduate experiences include day treatment diagnosing and treatment planning, intensive crisis care, foster home preservation, group counseling, birth mother counseling, adoptions, home studies, and couples counseling.
A lifetime Midwesterner, Sarah maintains a strong interest in community volunteer efforts, flower gardening, reading and keeping up with her two children and their academic and athletic pursuits. She has been married to Matt Walker for 25 years.
